Dr Leonard Yip
President
Biography
Dr Leonard Yip is a Senior Consultant, Head of the Glaucoma Service at the Department of Ophthalmology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He is the President of the College of Ophthalmologists, Singapore. He is also Adjunct Assistant Professor, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
He completed his Fellowship in Glaucoma with the University of British Columbia, Canada at the Eye Care Centre, Vancouver (2005-2006).
Dr Shamira Perera

Biography
A/Prof Shamira Perera is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Glaucoma Service at SNEC with an interest in novel surgeries and imaging. At SERI he is the Head of Cataract surgery research and works closely with Business Development team to commercialize devices in glaucoma and cataract. As deputy director of the Med Tech office for SingHealth he has disbursed >S$7M for innovation. On the clinical side, he is the Clinical Director for Complex Anterior Segment Surgery in SNEC (CASSIS)
Dr Rachel Chong

Biography
Dr Rachel Chong is a glaucoma consultant at the Singapore National Eye Centre and Assistant Professor at the Duke-National University of Singapore Graduate School of Medicine. Dr Chong received her BA in Physiological Sciences from the University of Oxford, and her MBBS from University College London. She completed her ophthalmology residency and fellowship training in glaucoma at the Singapore National Eye Centre, and obtained a PhD in Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge. She is currently the clinical lead for the Myopia-Glaucoma service at SNEC and is on the editorial board for Current Eye Research and Frontiers in Ophthalmology. Her research interests are primarily focused on intraocular pressure-independent mechanisms of glaucoma
Dr Bryan Ang

Biography
Dr Bryan Ang is a glaucoma consultant at the Department of Ophthalmology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Dr Ang received his M.B.B.S at the National University of Singapore, where he was awarded a Distinction in Surgery and recognized as the 2nd Best Candidate in Surgery in his cohort. Dr Ang’s clinical and research interest is in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, where he has won several international awards for his surgical films and techniques. Prior to his appointment as Treasurer, Dr Ang was the Honorary Auditor for GLAS from 2020-2022. Dr Ang is currently the Quality Reporting Officer at the TTSH Department of Ophthalmology and serves as member of the National Glaucoma Subspecialty Committee in the College of Ophthalmologists, Academy of Medicine, Singapore
Dr Wong Hon Tym

Biography
Clinical A/Prof Wong Hon Tym is the Medical Director of Singapore’s National Healthcare Group Eye Institute, and also the Centre for Healthcare Innovation.
He is Protem Ophthalmology Chief, Woodlands Health Campus, and Senior Consultant in Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s Ophthalmology Department, which he previously headed (2007 – 2016). He serves on TTSH’s Medical Board.
A/Prof Wong helmed several breakthrough eyecare models: streamlined phacoemulsification, tele-ophthalmology, Community Eye Clinics – both are TTSH’s Milestone Awardees.
He received NHG’s Outstanding Citizenship Award (2014) and co-chairs the Singapore Integrated Diabetic Retinopathy Programme (National Medical Excellence Award winner, 2019). He has chaired Guide Dogs Singapore since 2017.
Dr Rahat Husain

Biography
Clinical Associate Professor Rahat Husain qualified from University College London medical school and did his ophthalmology training in the south of England. He is currently a senior consultant in the glaucoma service at Singapore National Eye Centre and is also Director if Regional/Community Eyecare System at SingHealth
